Last week the blogpost discussed one means of creating rich soil, taken from this scripture found in Matthew, that offers our family members or fellow parishioners an environment that promotes recovery. I shared a story about sitting on the porch, reading the day’s readings and noticing the words, ‘rich soil.’

It occurred to me that the word rich–if we are talking about food means that it is made with something good like butter or cream, perhaps good chocolate. But if we are thinking about soil, from a gardener’s point of view, you know that rich soil is often soil that has been fertilized. Many times that is done by using compost or cow manure. To create rich soil we add decaying matter!

How does this parable translate to us? How do we become rich soil for our family members and even fellow parishioners to thrive and grow in? Well, we trim away at the decaying matter in our lives. Maybe that’s about repairing a relationship. It could be learning to see how your actions affect others. Dying to old habits that are hurtful to you and others, creates rich soil.

But how do you do that in practical terms?

Well, I have step by step instructions. Join me in this workshop on August 14 Workshop. It is a free workshop. Click this link to register. We will be diving deep into steps 7-9 of the Alcoholics Anonymous program. Remember the 12-steps are all about healing relationships and we all have relationships!

I have a favor to ask: I need reviews for my book. If you go to this link and scroll down to customer reviews, you will see a box that says, leave a customer review. This helps move the book up on the search list. I want families that are in need to be able to find it. Every review helps. Thank you in advance.
